01. who are we
Hi! We are Christiaan and Rowan de Wit, husband and wife pair that make up DEWITCO. Photography. Originally from the bayous of Louisiana and the Dutch North Sea, we have now found ourselves nestled in a small valley town in the North Carolina Smoky Mountains. In these Appalachian mountains, we have decided to dedicate our time to capturing the moments that we've been graced with and to bringing glory to God with the skills He has gifted us with.
We seek to document those like us; those who value and treasure the fleetingness of a moment. To document those who seek to feel breath and life in their photos, to document those who want their memories to feel like art.
2018
the year we met, just friends, blissfully unaware of the story to unfold.
2019
the year we started dating, long distance, phone call dates, all the giddy butterflies.
2020
the year we were both engaged and married (planned our wedding in a week!)

the year our family grew by one, our first born daughter.

02. our philosophy
DOCUMENTARY + EDITORIAL
We like to describe our approach to your wedding day as “photojournalistic.” This is a common buzzword used by wedding photographers today, but what does it mean? With a paired focus in documentary and editorial photography, we will be ready and prepared to capture moments as they happen and occur, yet we are also fully prepared to give intentional care to moments that render themselves needing care to.
What does this look like on a wedding day? This looks like us being flies on a wall, not seeking to dominate a moment or bring attention to ourselves. Snapping quietly along as you partake in one of the greatest days of your life. And when it comes time for us to step into a moment, we step in gently and tenderly, so as to again not constrain your day to our desires, but to push you along and re-center you to the most important parts of your day. Above all, we do not operate under our own agenda and shot-list. We do not force your wedding into a box, instead, we allow it to ebb and flow as naturally as possibly. This is how we find it best to capture your wedding day truly as it was.
Our end goal is to deliver you a gallery that helps you step back into your wedding day and relive it from behind our lens. This approach allows us to be flexible, adaptable, and non-intrusive to your wedding day. This approach allows us to document it truly, honestly, and authentically in all beauty and sacred nature.
Life is fleeting and moments pass by so fast, and sadly, your wedding day will be no different. Allow us to step into the fleetingness of it all to allow, so that you can soak it in once it’s all passed. To relive your wedding day one year later, five years later thirty years later. Allow us to work, tenderly and diligently, to deliver a gift that will stand the test of time.

Our packages only differ in the amount of hours of coverage, but they do not differ in experience. We get asked quite frequently the differences between our packages and which package will serve our couples best. With confidence we always say: no matter which package you book, know that we will come ready to serve you. We do not incentivize higher or lower packages; no matter which package you choose, you will receive the same standard of service across the board.

Below, we have a simple example of a wedding day timeline, with each package. These timelines are our base for most of our wedding timelines, however, there is much (needed) room for your own personalization in this timeline. Any special moment (first looks, letter readings, reception traditions, intimate private moments, etc.) can be worked into any timeline you choose, however! Keep in mind how busy or relaxed you want your day to be when choosing your package!
Above all, know that these timeline suggestions are in no way us desiring to put your day into a checklist. Having these blocks of time separated simply helps us know how to see the ebb and flow of your wedding day, helps us understand what is most valuable to you on your wedding day, and helps us to focus our documentation on what you see as most important on your wedding day. These timelines are bare bases and can be customized, or thrown out the window entirely! We only have these options listed below to help any of our clients who may be struggling to picture the difference between a 6, 8 , and 10 hour timeline.

You will receive a digital gallery link with unlimited downloading allowed. The gallery will be delivered after 6-8 weeks.
Within our local WNC package are some locations in NC, GA, TN, and even SC. Outside of our WNC package, we also have travel inclusive packages that have any state in USA as well as some international locations in mind. So, yes. Take us anywhere.
Depending on the season and our schedules, we do not mind offering customizations. Just tell us what your budget is, and we will let you know what options we can offer.
Choosing your wedding photographer is a huge decision. Your wedding photos are the only things that will exist that show your wedding day outside of your own memories, which is why we don't take this decision making process lightly. We just ask that you communicate with us and keep us updated on where you are in that decision.
The portrait session is complimentary, so you don’t have to redeem it, BUT! We highly suggest it! The portrait session is a fun way for us to get to know you before your wedding day.
We aim to stay true to life, with inspiration sourced from film. True to color, true to tone, true to lighting, true to the moment, yet, an added layer of nostalgia from the comfort and connection of film.
Absolutely! The vast majority of our clients are travel clients who typically travel to our area, however, we are always open to travel to our clients as well. Certain travel fees may apply, depending on the location. That is the only additional fee that may be added to your price.
As a husband and wife pair, we love doing this job together! In most scenarios, we are both present! Sometimes, unforeseen situations come up, and we may take sessions solo or we may need to hire a second to replace one of us on a wedding day. BUT! We will never sacrifice quality in doing so! We make any decision with the best interest of your wedding/session in mind.
Our goal, both on your wedding day and your portrait session, is to get to know you both as a couple and document your love story. We do not need you to have any experience with having your photo taken; we just ask that you are comfortable with embracing the moment and trusting us to tell your story in our photos.
Prepare for us (mainly Christiaan) to show up ready to bust a move and get jiggy with it.
06. portrait sessions
OPTION ONE:
An engagement session is a sentimental time stamp on a transient, temporary season. The giddiness, the anticipation, the last step before walking into forever together. These are the photos you’ll look back to one day and reminisce the blissful naivety of it all, in its purest most beautiful form.
HOW IT WORKS: We plan a day to meet before your wedding, pick a location based off of your vision for the session, and then we show up and have a great time together!
OPTION TWO:
Sometimes our couples want a little extra time in their wedding day attire, or they want to give more time on their wedding day to focus on their friends, family, and enjoying the moment, together. This option (sometimes referred to as "bridals") is the perfect way to give soak it in just a little bit more, both on and outside your wedding day.
HOW IT WORKS: Just like with an engagement session, we plan a day to meet before your wedding, pick a location based off of your vision for the session. The only difference is showing up in your wedding attire.
OPTION THREE:
Inviting us to come and document you and your loved ones as you celebrate your wedding to come. We may steal you away for a moment, but the focus of our time is documenting the sentimental, real moments between you and your family/friends..
HOW IT WORKS: Once your rehearsal is over, we show up to the rehearsal dinner and join the party! We can. document the evening as it is, snag photos of family and friends, and steal you away for a few photos together.
OPTION FOUR:
For the adventurers, those that want to have additional time to celebrate the newness, freshness of marriage. Let’s wake up, the day after your wedding. Let’s hike a mountain together, let’s see sunrise. Let’s bask in the beauty that is marriage, that is husband and wife. This will be the day you will always look back on and say, “that really was the beginning of it all.”
HOW IT WORKS: We plan a day to meet after your wedding (within the first month of your wedding), pick a location based off of your vision for the session, and then you put on your wedding garb again and we soak in and embrace an adventure together!
